1.1 Landscape Economy Concept Map (pre-seminar)

This assignment aims to assess your existing knowledge of the seminar theme. Your task is to develop a concept map on the following focus question:
- What are the relationships between landscape and economy?
Before starting the exercise, please read this article by Joseph D. Novak & Alberto J. Cañas titled The Theory Underlying Concept Maps and How to Construct and Use Them. This paper gives a good explanation of how concept maps work.
You may also watch this video:

You can use any tool you like for producing your concept map. However, you may wish to take this opportunity to explore some nice tools. They are freely available and have been developed specifically for supporting concept mapping in academic contexts:
Submission Time & Format
Please save or convert your file to a PDF Format. Your map needs to be well readable on an A3 sheet. The purpose of this exercise is to identify the previous knowledge of the seminar participants. This will inform the TELOS team. This concept map will not be graded,. However, the submission is compulsory for completing the course. You will be revisiting this map at the end of the course and modify it based on the knowledge gained during this process.

This assignment aims to assess how far your knowledge has developed during the seminar. Again, the task is to develop a concept map on the focus question: *What are the relationships between landscape and economy?
You may redevelop your previous map or create an entirely new one.
Submission Time & Format
Please save or convert your file to a PDF Format. The map should be well readable on an A3 sheet. The purpose of this exercise is to identify the knowledge evolution of the seminar participants and your file will only be read by the seminar teaching team. This concept map will not be graded, however, the submission is compulsory for completing the course.

Quality and evaluation criteria of a concept map
Concept maps are never complete and they are as diverse as individual brains are. However, the following criteria can help you and us to have a meaningful discussion on your concept map. We apply the so-called semantic criteria:
- concept relevance and completeness
- correct propositional structure
- presence of erroneous propositions
- presence of dynamic propositions
- number and quality of cross-links
- the presence of cycles
